For those that don't want to watch the video:

Costs of paper/packaging, the food products themselves, and labor all went up (much of that pandemic related).

McD's always had tight margins anyway and sometimes did "loss leader" sales hoping that volume would make up for the narrow margins. They were way overdue to price their food closer to actual cost and closer (if not equal to) fast casual places, which went from $10-12 a meal to more like $15-20.
